Brittney Griner used to be known as the YouTube Girl for the way her impressive dunks as a high schooler went viral across the Internet. There's another video clip of Griner that has spread almost as quickly: The punch she threw at a Texas Tech player earlier this month that led to her suspension. The start of her first NCAA tournament for Baylor on Saturday gives Griner a chance to rebuild her image as the 6-foot-8 shot-blocker who has the ability to transform her sport with an uncanny combination of

There's been a growth spurt in women's basketball. Fans watching the NCAA women's tournament will see more versatile 6-foot-3 or taller players than ever, a couple playing above the rim and plenty facing the basket with guard skills — their games patterned more after LeBron than Kareem. "Back in the day, if you were a big person, you were a back-to-the-basket kind of player," says Anne Donovan, a 6-8 force who won Olympic gold medals in 1984 and 1988 and was the 1983 college player of the year at Old

"Our game has evolved like the men, where we're not back-to-the-basket for post players any more. I think you started seeing that evolution with [6-5] Lisa Leslie, and it's just continued." Has it ever. Coaches say the increasing popularity of the women's game has resulted in more girls playing at an early age, and these players are more skilled.

Candace Parker is the star player behind a PETA anti-fur campaign. The ad reads "If You Wouldn't Wear Your Dog, Please Don't Wear Any Fur." "I feel very passionate about the fur campaign for PETA," said Parker. "I really feel like it's very cruel what (fur businesses) do to animals. … Animals don't have a voice, so people have to speak for them."

Well, they're finally here. After harassing adidas for almost 2 years to get some Candace Parker kicks out (why sign her and not make commercially available kicks for her in the year she wins, um, EVERYTHING??), I can't say they're worth the wait. My complaints, in no particular order:
